The Institute’s History

The genesis of this esteemed institute started with a dream of Apollo Hospitals Education and Research Foundation. The foundation is a well-regarded fixture in the education and research sectors of India since 1994.

They finally laid the foundation for the Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research on September 2015 at the Apollo Knowledge and Health City in Chittoor. Since then the college has gone on to churn out dedicated medical and research professionals year after year.

Apart from the great weather and learning climate, the college also boasts of amazing modern technological facilities and learning aids.

The institute is situated on 40 acres of verdant land in Chittoor with modern teaching staff and facilities to boot.

Institute Benefits

The Institute boasts of three main buildings – the college, hospital and the hostel. All three are well equipped for usage by the students, staff, faculty, and patients.

  • The college building is a ground + 2 floors structure. The departments of Biochemistry, Anatomy, Community medicine and Physiology are situated on the ground floor, while the first floor constitutes departments of Microbiology, Pharmacology, and Forensic Medicine and Pathology apart from 3 lecture halls with a capacity for 180 students! You can find a spacious and extremely well-stocked library at a separate block in the college.
  • The Chittoor Government District Hospital was handed over to the Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in 2015 for 33 years with 410 teaching beds, where the interns will diagnose disease and administer treatment under the watchful eyes and guidance of their supervisor. The hospital features a round the clock, well-equipped Casualty, and ICU ward.
  • The hostel boasts of well-furnished rooms with comfortable chairs, cots and study tables along with common bathrooms. The hostel is governed and managed by a warden and two assistant wardens. The student mess is adjacent to the girls’ hostel, whereby breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served.

Course – MBBS

Duration – 4 years and six months of studying and one year of rotating internship. The four years are divided into 3 phases (9 Semesters each of 6 months).

The course is divided into the following phases –

  • Phase one, consisting of 2 semesters.
  • Phase two, consisting of 3 semesters.
  • Phase three-part one, consisting of 2 semesters.
  • Phase three, part two, consisting of 2 semesters.

Different departments conduct their studies in different phases –

  • Physiology, Biochemistry, and Anatomy are taught in phase one and examined at the end of the phase.
  • Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic Medicine, and Pharmacology are taught in phase two. The exams for these courses are conducted at the end of the phase.
  • Ophthalmology, E.N.T., and Community Medicine are examined at the end of phase three-part.
  • Other subjects like Surgery & Allied, Medicine & Allied and Obstetrics & Gynecology are taught throughout phase two and phase three. They are examined in phase three part.

Eligibility criteria of the Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research –

  • Age – 17 years by December of the year of admission.
  • Qualification –12th Science or its equivalent with a final average score of 50% with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and For BC/SC/ST, the minimum marks requirement is 40% whereas it is 45% for OC PH category students.
  • Category and eligibility criteria
  1. Open Category (OC) – Cutoff Score 50th Percentile in NEET UG
  2. BC – Cutoff Score 40th Percentile in NEET UG
  3. SC/ST-Cutoff Score 40th Percentile in NEET UG
  4. OC PH-Cutoff Score 40th Percentile in NEET UG
  • Entrance exam – NEET UG
  • University Fee – Rupees 10,500

Admissions process

The admissions process can only begin once you meet the eligibility criteria and score the required cutoff marks. Here’s a list of documents which will be required for submission during admission –

  • Certified copy of SSC certificate stating name, address and other important information.
  • Certified copy of the Memorandum of Marks of the qualifying exam.
  • Conduct & Study Certificate.
  • Transfer Certificate.
  • If appeared for 10+2 from other state boards then kindly submit a certified copy of the equivalent exam.
  • If the candidate has studied abroad, then he or she will be required to approach the Association of Indian Universities for an equivalent certificate.
  • Migration certificate if required.
  • Bank guarantee as mentioned.

Fee Structure

A Rs. 10,000 per annum
B Rs. 11,00,000 per annum
C (NRI) Not more than five times the fees of B category students
  • The tuition fees must be paid annually for five years.
  • To offset inflation, there shall be a 5% increase in fees every year.
  • 25,000 per annum shall be annually charged per subject to failed students.
