He first got associated with photography in 2009 and has not looked back ever since. He has been doing wonders with his camera. He has now affiliated with The New York Times and the New Yorker as a photojournalist. His two great projects “Father Figure” and “Fade Resistance” have won critical acclaim as well as public accolades for their authenticity, sensitivity, and empathy. He excels mostly at human photography; and his street photography portfolio has won him many awards for depicting scenes from Afro-American families, showing in-depth social connections.
He pursued a career in medicine and got his medical degree from Tulane University, New Orleans. He once got a call for an assignment to photograph stem cell research across various centres in Europe. That one call changed his life for ever. He realized that he could pursue his research in a more fulfilling manner by taking up that assignment. He accepted the offer and travelled across several well-known research centres and laboratories across Europe, photographing essential aspects of the research. His creative genius, along with his brilliance in his subject churned out some fantastic work for the New Yorker, the National Geographic Magazine, and the Stanford Medicine. He has won the World Press Photo Award for Science and Technology.
This Indian medical genius established the Lister Labs in Chennai and is also the co-founder of Jeevan Blood Bank and Jeevan Stem Cell Bank in Chennai, India. He has been continuing his medical journey alongside his passion for photography. He has been experimenting for the last 25 years in the genre of nature and wildlife photography. He has travelled extensively across Indian and to African wildlife sanctuaries and jungles to satisfy his creative thirst for photography. His favorite destinations are the Masai Mara Wildlife Sanctuary in Kenya and Serengeti.
He has gone on several trips, expeditions, and wildlife safaris and has photographed hundreds of amazing pictures of tigers, panthers, wildebeests, elephants, and zebras in the African jungles. He has also caught on camera a number of beautiful natural scenes of sunrises, sunsets, beaches, waves, and even mountains.
He is an MD in Microbiology and the General Manager of Thyrocare Technologies Ltd. He is a well-known National Geographic educator and an acclaimed wildlife photographer.
Dr. Sengupta has come up with some excellent photography in the wildlife conservation category. Since his childhood, he was passionate about wildlife which later transformed into wildlife photography. He has always managed to take out time from his busy career to spend some quiet moments in the richness of the wilds. He also has traveled extensively and explored the rich biodiversity of India. His love for the camera lens has generated some memorable work. He likes to explore the jungles of North-East India, the Masai Mara in Kenya and the Costa Rican and the Amazon Rain Forests.
He is also known internationally for his passion for wildlife photography. He is the proud winner of the First Prize in Sanctuary Asia’s 16th Sanctuary Wildlife Award in December 2015 in Mumbai, India, for his project titled “Jungle Blur”.
He is also an enthusiastic traveller and a skillful photographer. When not at work at the Pulmonary Critical Care Unit at the Maines Hospital, he spends about 7-10 days on jungle safaris or trips to the jungles. His favorite destination is Ranthambore, India for tiger photo shoots. He has been actively associated with the Maine Camera Club, Maine, USA.
Dr Kaushik Ghosh from Kolkata is a Graduate Imaging Scientist and the committee member of the Medical Group and the Royal Photographic Society. He is a rare combination of a clinician, photographer, and artist. His photographs throw light on life, as an artist as well as a clinician.
He is primarily based in Kolkata, India and has even a degree in Medical and Scientific Photography. He worked in the Indian Healthcare sector for 7 years and then switched to travel and photojournalism. He is currently associated with several national and international Photography clubs.
