Top destination to study medical abroad

Studying abroad has always fascinated students but their parents sometimes have a reservation against this due to the perception that studying abroad is very expensive. This may not be true in the case of medicine as studying medicine abroad is relatively more affordable than studying medicine in India at a private institute. There are many factors that the parents and the students must take into consideration when it comes to choosing  a medical college abroad for studying like the duration of the course, total expense of education, quality of education, scope after graduate medicine abroad. If the student wishes to come back to India and practice medicine he/she needs to ensure that the university he/she chooses to study is approved by the medical council of India. Below are some of the countries that the parents can choose for the children to avail a medical degree abroad.

1. Norway

When it comes to medical education abroad, Europe is a great choice for the aspiring students. Nordic countries are most affordable in Europe when it comes to education. Norway remains a top pick among the Nordic countries as there are many universities in Norway that offer study abroad for free options for students all over the world. Not to mention the scenic beauty of Norway is a major plus point when it comes to choosing Norway as a destination to study. The students get to enjoy the magnificent landscape of Norway along with the quality of education. There are many universities in Norway that offer “English” as a medium of instruction for their courses. Even though some of the universities offer free tuition, cost of living in Norway can be a little expensive and ranges from INR 10 lakh to INR 12 lakh per year.

2. Taiwan

Taiwan is emerging as one of the premier education hubs in Asia. With many universities in Taiwan ranked consistently among the top universities in the world, medicine seems to be a viable option for students as the tuition fees are affordable, depending on the university. Tuitions for medicine in Taiwan are known to be as low as INR 3 Lakh per year. Taiwan is not only known for its natural scenic beauty but it’s modern innovative infrastructure as well. A student can enjoy all the modern amenities similar to first world countries and the cost of living is economical and ranges from INR 2 lakh to INR 3 lakh per year.

3. Germany

Germany is known for its automotive industries and education in the field of automobiles but over the past few years Germany is emerging as one of the best countries in Europe to study medicine. Some universities in Germany do not charge tuition fees for Undergraduate course and some others offer scholarships for students as well. Germany’s healthcare system is among the top healthcare systems in the world. Although the students may be exempt from paying tuition fees, the cost of living in Germany can range from INR 8 lakh to INR 10 lakh depending on the location and lifestyle of the students. Many universities in Germany offer their courses in English. There are many job opportunities in Germany after graduation.

4. France

No list comprising medical school abroad Europe can truly be complete without considering the universities in France. Known for its historic architecture and art, France is among the top countries in the world when it comes to education. Universities in France usually offer the same tuition fees for international students as they do for domestic students. The tuition fee for medical courses can be higher as the tenure of MBBS degree in France ranges from 8 to 11 years but it will be worth it due to the magnificent artistic infrastructure of France and the highly sought after healthcare system that France has to offer. Paris is consistently rated as the top city for living and studying in numerous surveys. Many universities also offer their courses in English. The working and earning prospect after the completion of education is also higher.

5. Mexico

Known for its magnificent beaches it remains a top destination for celebrities and civilians alike, Mexico has emerged as one of the best countries to study in Latin America. The government affiliated universities in Mexico are relatively affordable and charge tuition fee as low as INR 70,000/-. The private universities are more expensive but will still be relatively more affordable compared to studying in a private university in India, owing to the capitation fees that the private institutes in India charge. Students can enjoy the ethereal beauty of the beaches of Mexico along with the modern infrastructure of Mexico, which is among the most developed cities in Latin America and the world. Although the main medium of instruction is Spanish, there are many institutes that offer their courses in English as well.

6. Argentina

Another Latin American country that can be a great option to study medicine is Argentina. Argentina is among the safest countries in South America and generally known for its beautiful natural landscape. There are some government universities that do no charge tuition fees for the duration of the course. Living expense in Argentina is relatively affordable, considering the diverse cultural and economic aspect of the cities there. The expense may range from INR 3 Lakh to INR 5 lakh per year. Many universities offer their courses in English

7. Poland

Another country from Europe which is emerging as a prime choice for studying medicine is Poland. With the magnificent beauty of Europe, Poland is a safe haven for education. Tuition fees range from INR 6 lakh to INR 8 lakh and the cost of living is relatively affordable and ranges from INR 3 lakh to INR 4 lakh. Although Polish is a primary language of instruction in Poland but there are certain universities that offer courses in English as well.

8. Malaysia

Malaysia is a great option for students who wish to pursue MBBS abroad as it is one of the cheapest countries for studying in, in terms of cost of living, and the tuition fees are relatively affordable as they range from INR 7 lakh to INR 8 lakh and the duration of the course is 5 years. The cost of living in Malaysia is cheap as it only costs somewhere around INR 2 lakh to INR 3 lakh per year. The medium of instruction in most universities is English.

9. South Africa

Although South Africa has had a turbulent history, over the past few years it has emerged as the premier hub of education in Africa. Known for its diverse culture and the signature African Safari, in developed cities like Cape Town the cost of education in is relatively affordable as the tuition fees is around INR 3 lakh to INR 4 lakh. The cost of living in South Africa is around INR 5 lakh to INR 6 lakh. The medium of instruction in most universities is English.
