Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) is a top medical college in India located at Bilaspur in the state of Chhattisgarh. The college offers both Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses. The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course has a total yearly intake of 100 students. This number is six when it comes to admission to Postgraduate courses.
The duration of the MBBS degree courses is five and a half years. This includes a compulsory internship of one year. The course is divided into three broad phases.
The internship program is quite exhaustive as it provides the interns with all the necessary exposure to real-life problems. The students are trained in different areas of medicine and surgery. The interns are provided with a small monthly stipend which is awarded at the end of graduation.

Students from all over India are eligible to apply for admission. 82 percent of the seats are reserved for the state candidates who have successfully cleared the entrance exam. 15 percent of the seats are reserved under the All India Quota. Students from different parts of India makes the best use of this opportunity. The remaining 3 percent of seats are reserved for central government nominees. Overseas students are not eligible for MBBS admission.
Admissions to MD are based on a candidate’s performance in the NEET PG exam.
The college is funded by the State Government. The tuition fee is very reasonable and is equal for all professional courses – the perks of being a government college. The annual tuition fee is around Rs 40,000/-.
The college ensures safe accommodation to its students. The hostel fee is Rs 5000/- and is to be paid annually. A monthly mess fees of Rs 2000/- is to be paid separately.
The fees for PG course is also subzidized. The total tuition fee for the entire three years is only Rs 66,000/- . It is the same for all courses that are presently available.
The college has excellent infrastructure.
Several scholarships are awarded to the students to meet their financial requirements. The Government of Chhattisgarh provides a scholarship of Rs 50,000/- to the students who are admitted under the reservation category. The scholarship is provided on an annual basis.
Various companies are also offering students with financial aid. There are several public sector as well as private sector banks that provide educational loans to the students. This ensures that under no circumstances will a student find it difficult to pursue the course due to financial constraints.
